God asks us to use the mind he has given us. But sometimes sitting down quietly to read and think or even to give the proper time needed for preparation of talks, sermons or articles can be a challenge. Everything else seems to demand our instant attention. A regular (or occasional) day away to study and pray could be the answer.

At Mirfield we are able to provide individual rooms for study, or a carrel in the library.

We have a small retreat house library available to all our guests and a dedicated monastery library of 80,000 volumes which welcomes new readers on application. A brother can usually be available by prior request to offer advice on reading. You will have the opportunity to join the brothers for Midday Office, Mass and Evensong and to make use of the Church at other times.
