Schools & Colleges

Schools

The Community welcomes visits by school groups of any age.

Visits can be cross-curricular, and we especially welcome Religious Studies field trips, balancing informational learning with experiential. Schools which have visited previously have particularly valued the unique insight into the monastic life in the contemporary world – an example of how human life can be lived as vocation.

We work closely with form teachers planning a visit within the National Curriculum.

Our facilities include the Church, extensive grounds (including orchard, labyrinth and playing field), teaching rooms and dining room for up to 60 students, for either a half-day or a full day.

For further information, please contact our Guest Office, or call 01924 483346.

Universities & Colleges

We welcome University students to come and enjoy life alongside a monastic community. There will be times for silence and reflection, but we encourage groups to talk with the Brethren and explore the principles and values that guide a monk’s life in the monastery – and to consider the significance of community in a world focused on the individual.

We are pleased to work with students, chaplaincies, and others to tailor a visit to a groups’s particular needs.

Visit or Stay

We welcome you to come to CR and to share in our life. Some come regularly to talk with a brother, others spend a day or two experiencing this very different environment. Individuals and groups come on retreat and pilgrimage, share in the teaching and courses we offer and join us in worship and meals.
