Thriving (not just surviving!) through change

Thriving (not just surviving!) through change

Led by Bishop Chris Edmondson

Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd February 2020

The cost of this retreat is £140

It is a fact of life that everything changes.   So how do we navigate our way through it and live with it positively? Over this retreat weekend we will explore the landscape of change in different ways, including through Bible study and in personal reflection.

Bishop Chris has, over the course of his ministry, been a parish priest, Diocesan Missioner, Warden of Lee Abbey, and prior to his retirement on 2016, was Bishop of Bolton in the Diocese of Manchester. He now lives in Bradford, and is an Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Leeds.

**This day is now full** Philippians Study Day

**This day is now full**

Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a short and personal letter, written from a Roman prison. We get a glimpse of Paul’s affectionate relationship with a church he felt close to.   Often called the “letter of joy” we actually find a range of emotions in Philippians: Paul talks openly about frustration and sadness, about his struggles as well as his hope. But above all he talks about his deep longing to be close to his Lord in life and death.

Come along and discover more about this rich document of faith and early Christian life.

Advent Quiet Day

In all the Christmas rush why not take a day out to think, to pray and to prepare for the coming of Jesus? Why not set aside the noise and confusion of Christmas preparations for a few hours and come and enjoy the silence in order to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. During the day participants will have space for prayer in the church or grounds and opportunity for your own spiritual reading.

Preaching, Praying, and Pondering Matthew’s Gospel

This Matthew study day will take a wide-angle lens approach by presenting some background information which informs the reading of individual passages.

We will devote particular attention to the evangelist’s carefully worked-out over-all structure, to the Sermon on the Mount (perhaps Matthew’s “greatest hit”), and to contemporary interpretation of the evangelist’s primary concerns. Each session will provide informational hand-outs and include time for questions.

What would Jesus Post?

A Biblical approach to online interaction

If Jesus had access to the internet what would he post? And, as importantly, what wouldn’t he post? David talks about his invaluable book and asks intriguing questions of those of us who engage with the internet.

Which biblical principles inform its use? How might Christians steward their online presence? What does it mean to follow Jesus in this critical area of our lives?
