We aim to renew this place of hospitality, welcome and learning as a resource for Church and society in a turbulent and changing world. Our aim is to ensure that all who come can share in our life and leave refreshed and renewed through their experience.
People who stay at the Mirfield Monastery, home of the Community of the Resurrection, come for a variety of different reasons. These can be individually arranged retreats, guided retreats led by a member of the Community or the College, week long special courses, or clergy retreats.

But what is the truth behind the tales, the life behind the Legend? Who was this 4th Century Bishop who became one of our most popular saints? During the day there wìll be room for quiet reflection.

Matthew’s gospel, with its focus on Jesus’ origins. the Jewish character of Jesus’ mission, and extended reflection on eschatology, offers both rich resources and specific challenges for our reading and preaching. How do we make sense of his use of the Old Testament? What are we to do with his organisation of Jesus’ teaching
material? Was it originally only written for a Jewish audience? And can we appropriate the extensive mater¡al on eschatology? We will explore these questions, and more, as we grapple in depth with this popular gospel.

Based on his book ‘Subversive Peacemakers: War Resistance 1914-1918’ (Lutterworth 2014), Clive Barrett will lead us in a day thinking about the importance of shaping an informed conscience, standing for what one believes in and reclaiming narratives in ways that promote peace and understanding. Responses will be offered by Jim Coleman (former chaplain to both RAF and Army). Both speakers will aim to give some resources and food for thought as we approach Remembrance Sunday, especially poignant during 2016, which marks the centenary of the introduction of conscription. It will be helpful if participants read the book beforehand.

This Quiet Garden Day in early summer will take it’s cue from the orchard in the surroundings of the gardens of the Community of the Resurrection, and offer a reflection on the mystery of both growing and failing with Christ.

We welcome Adrian Scott back to the Mirifeld Centre to lead a day on Dreams – the Gateway to our Depths. A day exploring the way dreamscan unlock the deeper desires and inclinations of our souls. Using the works of Carl Jung and others, the day will look at our own dreams and what the Spirit might teach us through them. Poetry and Imagery will be used to unleash the faculty of imagination.

We welcome you to come to CR and to share in our life. Some come regularly to talk with a brother, others spend a day or two experiencing this very different environment. Individuals and groups come on retreat and pilgrimage, share in the teaching and courses we offer and join us in worship and meals.
